The sun is dropping toward the horizon now, and it won't be long until dusk, at which point they'll probably need to go inside for warmth, but for now everything feels perfect. There's red-gold light on the trees and glinting off the eaves above them.
"I don't know how I got so lucky," he murmurs. "Ain't nothing that unusual about me. I know you're gonna tell me I'm special t'you and that's how it should be, but sometimes all of this just feels like a fairy tale."
